Reuters is seeking an innovative and dynamic editor with strong leadership skills to drive the company news file in Asia.

The successful candidate for this high-profile role will be an idea generator who will work with journalists across the Asia-Pacific region to produce a company news file that stands out from those of rivals.

He or she will strive for all-around excellence, seeking smart angles and sharp context to demonstrate to a global readership why they should care.Strong news judgment is essential, as is a sophisticated understanding of the changing corporate landscape to ensure our coverage teases out and highlights the angles clients want and need to know about.

The new company news editor will take the reins at an exciting time for the region. As part of a campaign to stimulate growth and fend off an economic slowdown, Beijing is looking to cut both red tape and costs for Chinese firms keen to spread their reach overseas.

Meanwhile, foreign firms in China must contend with rising labor costs and regulatory risks. Japanese manufacturers are shifting production back onshore from China and elsewhere to take advantage of a weaker yen, while maintaining a cautious line on new capital spending.

In India, domestic and foreign players alike are waiting patiently for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove hurdles to doing business. The company news editor will report to the Asia Editor and will be a key member of a senior news team shaping the regional and global file, so the ideal candidate must be a driven newsroom leader with a proven ability to develop and execute strategy working closely with a wider team.

Skills:
– Proven excellence in writing, editing and team leadership
– Sophisticated understanding of the corporate world and the policies and trends that affect it
– Ability to hone in on the questions most critical for financial professionals
– Talent at generating ideas that can drive the file forward in original ways
– Diplomacy and influencing skills: the Editor must be able to lead a far-flung team or reporters and to work closely and well with peers
