Reuters-LogoReuters is looking for an enterprising, ambitious and experienced company news journalist with strong writing skills and a flair for storytelling to join the China company news team.

The successful candidate will cover China’s huge auto industry as well as the related changes in consumption patterns driven by innovations in technology and the shifting spending habits of the country’s near 1.4 billion people.

China’s car market, the world’s largest, is shifting gears to electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-ins, while support for autonomous driving is luring global carmakers and tech giants. Regulation is in flux, with strict emissions targets being brought in to help propel the EV market and cut urban smog. Chinese carmakers are looking to break into overseas markets, while global auto firms are also pushing for greater access in China.

In autos and beyond, technological innovation is changing the face of Chinese consumption: virtual reality, artificial intelligence, digital payments and the amazing penetration of smart phones. A sharing economy is exploding alongside online streaming and e-commerce, while big data is redrawing the lines of how people shop – even for their cars. A vibrant market for car sharing and ride-hailing is also booming in China, with local players getting increasingly bold on a global stage.

We are looking for a team player with great ideas, the ability to build strong networks of sources and the skill to conceptualize them to tell this exciting story for a global audience.
