Reuters seeks China stocks correspondent

The China Stocks Correspondent is responsible for covering the evolution of one of the most important stock market stories in the world: The development of the mainland stock markets and by extension the evolution of Hong Kong as a competing/complementary market.

The correspondent will cover equities markets in Shanghai and Shenzhen, focused on regulatory attempts to reform Chinese equity markets to turn them into viable, reliable places for investors and companies to trade. They will also cover Hong Kong market on a daily basis, and will also be responsible for reacting to spot news, coming up with initiative and analysis reporting, plus developing sources at brokerages, fund managers and regulators, and landing exclusives.

The correspondent will work as part of the China markets team and will also help provide insight into the interplay between stocks and adjacent markets. They will be expected to handle real-time news quickly and accurately, to uncover exclusive news that moves markets, and to come up with great stories that give unique insight into this part of the world. We need a team player, who when required is ready to roll up their sleeves and deal with routine news items or help colleagues.

Qualifications
– Fluent written and spoken English
– Fluent Mandarin, spoken, written and listening comprehension
– Knowledge of financial markets generally, equity markets specifically
– Familiarity with Chinese economy, politics, culture
– Ability to work under time pressure in close cooperation with multicultural team
