Reuters seeks Bank of America/Wells Fargo reporter

March 13, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for an energetic enterprising reporter to sniff out scoops about Bank of America and Wells Fargo, two of the biggest banks in the nation.

We’re looking for a reporter who can write about how the banks are making money now, how they are still suffering from the financial crisis, and how regulation is changing their business.

We want to break news about businesses that the biggest banks will no longer touch, and how much of that activity is moving into the shadow banking sector. We are looking for reporters who can tell big stories that no one else has told, and who can add new information to big banking stories that break elsewhere.

The successful candidate will need to develop sources all over the banks, ranging from senior executives in the c-suite to junior analysts to investors to regulators. We’re looking for reporters with a track record of breaking news through source-driven stories, and who are comfortable using public documents to aid their reporting.

Responsibilities:

The correspondent will cover Bank of America and Wells Fargo, breaking stories that are of interest to investors, regulators, and the broader public. The candidate will work closely with other reporters across the newsroom, including other banking correspondents and our regulatory team in Washington.

Qualifications
– Knowledge of financial statements
– A strong track record of scoops and excellent writing skills
– Reporting experience in banking or related areas a plus
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 5 years experience as a journalist
