PCMag seeks tech writer/reviewer

Want to work for the Web’s preeminent tech site? If you love technology and have proven tech-writing experience, PCMag.com would like to hear from you. We’re looking for a bright and aggressive analyst with top-notch writing and editing skills to work closely with our team of editors and analysts to cover mobile technology (including cell phones, cellular modems, cellular service providers, tablets, and Bluetooth headsets) at PC Labs in New York City. A good part of the job is keeping a close eye on the space and covering the hottest products of the day. We’re looking for a self-starter who can not only follow the trends, but also anticipate them.

Responsibilities
  • Write clear, authoritative reviews, features, tips and advice pieces, product roundups, buying guides, and news stories.
  • Get ahead of trends and aggressively acquire products; you will help shape our mobile coverage, so you need to know what’s next.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
  • Edit, produce, and QA copy.
  • Write scripts and appear in videos for both reviews and trend stories.
  • Edit images, build slideshows, update category pages, enter product specs, maintain spec database.
  • Represent PCMag at vendor meetings and industry events.
Qualifications
  • This position works out of our testing lab in New York City. You must be able to work onsite.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Journalism or English concentration preferred.
  • 3 to 4 years of professional writing/editing experience at an established website, magazine, or newspaper; with a mobile concentration strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the mobile tech space, including carriers, devices, and manufacturers.
  • Must be a self-starter who can independently prioritize projects, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive, deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to write quickly and clearly is an absolute must.
  • A strong work ethic and strict attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with online-publishing platforms and digital-image manipulation.
  • Pre-existing mobile vendor relationships is a plus.
  • Product review experience is a strong plus.
  • On-camera video experience a plus.
