Oregon paper seeks business reporter

The Albany Democrat-Herald, a 14,000-circulation daily newspaper in the heart of Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley, has an opening for a business reporter/copy editor.

We’re looking for a reporter who’s able to keep a close eye on the workings of an active business community, as well as oversee page assignments and design at least one day a week as a copy editor. This position also includes general-assignment work and some police and courts coverage when that reporter is absent. The position requires weekend and evening shifts.

Qualifications

Must have a degree in journalism or equivalent combination of experience and education
Previous experience on a daily newspaper a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work flexible schedule which will include nights, weekends and holidays
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated skill and ability with Multi-media platforms
Demonstrated news writing and reporting ability
Ability to meet deadlines and work within a fast paced environment
Work within a team environment
