Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal seeks business reporter

Screen Shot 2017-07-10 at 1.44.33 PMThe Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo is looking for an intelligent, energetic and aggressive journalist to serve as our business reporter.

Candidates should be prepared to cover report and write business news, including in-depth enterprise coverage, for print and electronic products, daily and Sunday business sections and monthly Business Journal.

Position also includes general assignment reporting covering nonprofit organizations to general interest stories and everything in between. Candidates will have an opportunity to generate story ideas relevant to readers of all backgrounds.

Tupelo is a small city recognized as a model in national community development circles through the years. Previous reporters have used this position as an opportunity to deploy diligent, thoughtful reporting – combined with an active presence in the community and on social media – to make a lasting impact.

The Daily Journal is a 30,000-circulation locally owned newspaper focused on both print and digital growth. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package.

Tupelo, birthplace of Elvis, has more amenities than the typical city of 37,000 and is located within easy driving distance of Memphis and Birmingham and about an hour from both the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.
