New York Times seeks international business editor

New York TimesThe New York Times is looking for a seasoned, collaborative, and creative editor to oversee our international business coverage. Candidates should be experienced editors who are able to deftly navigate all manner of subject matters, story types and digital platforms.

Operating in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, the editor will work closely with New York, London and Hong Kong to coordinate coverage between various time zones, bureaus and sections.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of business and economics, as well as strong experience writing and editing breaking news and enterprise stories. The right editor should be comfortable conceiving and executing coverage plans for news events, with the ability to analyze and assess how local developments play out globally and put international stories in the broader context. Digital chops are essential, as we look to introduce more storytelling forms, to develop visual journalism and to build social engagement.

This position is based in London.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a large team of reporters and editors in Europe and Asia, driving coverage across a range of countries, subjects, and platforms.

  • Develop and execute a strategy for global business coverage, including creating, managing, and editing a pipeline of features, enterprise and projects.

  • Manage and edit breaking news, setting the agenda and priorities for editors and reporters around the world.

  • Build our digital presence by working closely with photo, graphics, video and multimedia to enhance our storytelling.

  • Collaborate with reporters and editors in various bureaus and sections to help infuse business and economics across the report.

  • Work closely with other teams and bureaus to help evolve the international report, creating a more digitally nimble team without regard for section or territory.
