Best known as one of Washington’s most trusted media brands for nearly 50 years, National Journal has unmatched teams of specialists dedicated to government affairs, communications, and political research in addition to exceptional journalism. Our premier products are: National Journal Leadership Council, Hotline, Race Tracker, National Journal Daily, Communications Council, Policy Brands Roundtable, Network Science Initiative and the Presentation Center.

National JournalNational Journal Daily seeks an energetic, intellectually curious journalist to join our Capitol Hill team. Candidates must have excellent writing skills, an understanding of Congress and the political landscape, and a background covering technology policy at the federal level.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate Include:

  • Experience reporting and writing for a news organization
  • A solid grounding in technology policy
  • The ability to develop sources from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill and K Street
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and juggling multiple tasks
  • A positive, collaborative approach
  • An interest in learning from, and contributing to, a team
  • A commitment to nonpartisan reporting and writing
  • A strong work ethic, and a desire to excel

Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two “pillar gifts” in its candidates.  In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions.

  1. Force of Intellect – Atlantic Media seeks a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in exceptional academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.
  2. Spirit of Generosity – Equally, Atlantic Media seeks a natural disposition toward service and selfless conduct.
