Money magazine seeks visual journalist

April 4, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

Money magazine is seeking a visual journalist to design and develop graphics and features independently and in collaboration with Money’s New York City-based editorial team.

This mid-level position will involve both fast-turnaround projects that react to the news as well as longer term ones that involve building ambitious, evergreen tools and features for Money.com and Money magazine. A good candidate for this job will have extensive experience using Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop and Excel as well as excellent writing and editing skills.

Proficiency with front-end web technologies such as Javascript, HTML, CSS and data visualization libraries such as D3, Raphael, or canvas-based packages are also highly desired. Most importantly, we want someone who has a passion for using information design to create immersive experiences for readers; who can demonstrate an interest in Money’s core subject areas and a desire to use information design to help readers explore the data behind consumer, financial, and economic news; and who is eager to try new technologies and pitch his or her own projects.

Applicants will be expected to submit a portfolio of past visualization projects to be considered.

To apply, send your resume, cover letter and visualization projects to Scott Medintz, at Scott.Medintz@moneymail.com.
