The Memphis Business Journal is looking to hire a managing editor.

The managing editor will oversee the daily operations of a digital newsroom, working directly with the web editor, reporters, photographer and production staff to produce quality news stories for our digital audience. Responsibilities will include planning, editing and helping produce our weekly print edition and special sections.

Duties:

Conduct daily staff meeting to learn what stories reporters are working on, prioritize the stories and help direct resources to produce our Afternoon Edition by 3 p.m. Job requires constant communication and coordination with different departments, planning, good editing skills and a nose for news. Help plan our weekly centerpiece story for the print edition. Be active on social media to drive more traffic to our website and grow our audience. Work closely with the editor and web editor to develop strategies to grow our audience and make the best use of resources. Attend company events and be visible in the community to help grow our brand.

Skills:

Good organizational skills and the ability multi-task; ability to successfully manage a fluid newsroom for our daily editions while planning for future print stories and sections; be active and visible on social media; strong editing and communication skills.
