MarketWatch is looking for an energetic and seasoned visual journalist to run our photo/graphics desk out of New York or San Francisco.

This new hire would shape the way we collect, design and publish art at MarketWatch from the ground up. The graphics editor would partner with our other graphics editor in assisting the newsroom to find art, while publishing engaging graphics and promoting our work across social media.

All are a must for this position: A background in news graphics with a strong portfolio of data visualizations; experience with photo services and an understanding of photo usage rights; knowledge of and passion for the stock market and financial news; at ease in a fast-paced environment; ability to single-handedly gather news, mine data and create visually engaging graphics.

Responsibilities include: Partner with editors to best package our coverage. Develop charts and infographics at rapid speeds. Research and fulfill photo requests from the newsroom. Regularly train the newsroom on finding and uploading photos. Provide general guidance on image usage rights. Assist our social media team with exclusive art and manage our @MKTWGraphics Twitter account.

Skills needed: An eye for design. Well-versed in Photoshop and Illustrator. Handy at HTML Experience using photo wire services like Getty Images and Reuters. Social media savvy. Comfortable researching and reporting stand-alone infographics. Okay working alone. Background in journalism.
