Las Vegas Review-Journal seeks two business reporters

March 1, 2016

Posted by Chris Roush

Nevada’s leading news organization in print and on the Web needs two smart, aggressive journalists to cover the most interesting business beats in America.

When it comes to business, there’s more to Las Vegas than gaming. We have a growing tech sector that features major data center hubs, drone aircraft R&D, an aerospace plant building space station pods, hyperloop tube transportation testbeds and the Faraday Future electric car plant now under construction.

We anticipate one of these positions would be devoted to tech, manufacturing and economic development.

But let’s not forget the mega-resorts and 42.3 million visitors each year who help make Las Vegas what it is. Tourism, particularly conferences and conventions and experiences unrelated to gambling, are a rapidly growing segment of the expanding local economy.

One of these positions will focus on resorts and tourism, with some gaming coverage.

These are not entry-level positions. The ideal candidate for either job would have at least three years of significant experience covering business. Experience with public companies, tech, international business and finance would be a plus.

The Review-Journal is the flagship of News + Media LLC, now under the local ownership of Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson.

The RJ is an equal-opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug test is mandatory.

To apply, email a cover letter, resume and your three best writing samples to James G. Wright, Deputy Editor, at jwright@reviewjournal.com. Please put “Business Writer” and your name in the subject line. Applicant review will begin March 21. Finalists will be notified by April 2.
