Bloomberg Industry seeks a senior audio producer

The Senior Audio Producer will focus on INDG’s reported audio storytelling podcasts. The position will report to the executive producer of videos and podcasts and will collaborate with reporters and editors across our newsroom to seek out legal, government, and tax stories that will work well in a narrative audio format. The audio producer will take the lead in storyboarding, reporting, writing scripts, recording and editing audio both in the studio and in the field, as well as sound design.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help shape the editorial vision of our new narrative podcasts.
  • Work with executive producer, editors, and reporters in our newsroom to develop stories.
  • Strong ability to structure a compelling and unique narrative podcast.
  • Host, interview, report, record, and write scripts, as well as coaching others on best audio practices.
  • Select audio, pitch angles on stories, participate in and run group meetings and edits as needed.
  • Oversee all aspects of audio production including recording both in-studio and on-location, editing, assembling, sound design, mixing, and publishing.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date production calendar and meeting deadlines.
  • Responsible for overall sound, from music and sound design, to quality of interview recordings.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in long form storytelling formats, including generating and fleshing out story ideas.
  • Demonstrated experience producing engaging narrative audio stories for podcasts or radio.
  • Proven ability to think big picture about approaches to covering hard to explain topics.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with best audio editing and production practices.
  • High proficiency with audio editing software including Adobe Audition and/or Pro Tools.
  • Professional knowledge of microphones, and multi track and portable audio recorders.
  • Excellent news judgment and commitment to best journalistic practices.
  • A strong interest in our key areas of coverage: law, government, tax and accounting.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage production workflow in the midst of a creative process; skilled at balancing priorities, quality, and deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 5+ years producing audio content, including radio features or long form narrative podcasts.

Special Requirements:

  • Candidates may be required to pass a test for this position.
