Fortune.com seeks reporter in New York

April 5, 2016

Posted by Chris Roush

Fortune is looking for an intrepid, digitally-savvy reporter with a passion for all things startups and small business to write for the brand-new Venture channel on Fortune.com.

This is a key role for an energetic reporter who wants to dig into creating meaningful, transformative content for a new vertical. We’re looking for someone with at least 3 to 5 years of reporting experience in business or tech. Experience/interest in topics related to crowdfunding and funding a plus.

You will:

  • Write daily stories for the Venture channel on Fortune.com – both quick-hit stories and longer, more in-depth pieces
  • Think creatively about content, telling stories not just with text, but with galleries, infographics or video
  • Participate in the production of several key franchises, such as the 40 Under 40
  • Manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

You are:

  • A multitasker: People who’ve worked with you before would say you have grace under pressure. You’re used to managing multiple projects and deadlines while still being precise. You can easily work at a volume of 1-2 reported stories per day.
  • An ideas person: You are naturally creative and enjoy brainstorming. When you look at a story in the headlines, you can see five more angles to cover in it. You also think bigger: packages, franchises, newletters, partnerships and more.
  • A reporter at heart: You’re eager to sink your teeth into a beat, develop sources, and ply those sources for unique stories that haven’t been covered before.
  • Immersed: You come armed with a clear perspective and a deep interest in the intersection of women, business and leadership. When we invite you in for an interview, we’ll be able to feel your energy, enthusiasm and interest.
