Digiday is seeking a retail reporter to join our brands team. The position is responsible for working with Digiday’s brands editor and wider edit team to cover the latest in digital marketing as it relates to retailers, including big box stores, e-commerce players and retailing startups.

The person will be responsible for breaking stories on new ad campaigns, efforts by companies to survive in an Amazon world and provide smart analysis on the shifts within the industry, including tackling stories on retail trends in the digital space, new strategies and changing consumer habits.

Extra focus should be on how retail brands are changing how they work to respond to the new digital landscape. The ideal candidate should be comfortable pitching stories in a self-starter environment and be able to work quickly and efficiently. This position is based in New York City.

Requirements:

At least 1-2 years business or tech reporting experience

Ability to generate story ideas regularly and brainstorm ongoing series and story packages
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with daily deadlines.

Some experience covering the marketing and advertising industries preferred but not necessary

To be considered for this position, please send a resume, cover letter and three story ideas that fit with Digiday coverage to Shareen Pathak at shareen@digiday.com.
