The Dallas Morning News seeks a reporter to join its award-winning Business news team to cover the vibrant North Texas economy.

This beat requires an ability to deftly move from people-focused stories on skills gap and workforce development issues to hard-hitting data analysis of trends involving the local and state economy to providing local insight into national economic signals that cut across a multitude of beats.  Our region’s economic challenges change frequently and are forged by growth – Dallas-Fort Worth added more than 100,000 jobs in the last year and more than 360 people move here each day.

This coverage also will increasingly focus on economic development strategies employed across our region, from actively pursuing companies outside the state to relocate here to the use of tax incentives to seal those deals.

The ideal candidate will be insatiably curious about Dallas-Fort Worth’s diverse economy, with a desire to delve into topics ranging from construction to professional services to defense and everything in between. Applicants should bring ideas about how to grow readership for economic stories across multiple platforms.

Please submit a resume, cover letter describing how you’d approach this important beat and three (3) examples of your best work.
