Corridor Business Journal seeks Iowa City reporter

September 26, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

The Corridor Business Journal, a weekly business publication in the Creative Corridor, seeks an enterprising reporter to cover business news throughout the Corridor’s seven-county area, and governmental proceedings in Johnson and Cedar Counties.

The reporter will be responsible for developing and cultivating sources on a variety of assigned beats and within their geographical area, and will be expected to produce both daily and enterprise stories for our daily email updates, weekly print newspaper and website. The reporter will also be asked to help with general proofing duties, contribute stories to the CBJ’s special publications, and assist with digital production of e-newsletters and the CBJ website.

The ideal candidate must be flexible, inquisitive, and a strong writer with high production. The candidate must also be attentive to detail and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, while also remaining open to coaching and continuous improvement. The reporter will be expected to have excellent news judgment, and regularly find scoops and watchdog sources and issues.

At least three years journalism/news reporting experience is required. Must be an AP style expert, and have a basic knowledge of HTML and WordPress. Social media, photography and/or Adobe Creative Suite skills are pluses, but not required.

The CBJ is a locally-owned, rapidly-growing media company that offers flexible schedules, competitive pay and benefits, and weekends off. We work hard but also have a lot of fun with events and gatherings throughout the year. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume and two to four clips to Editor Adam Moore at adam@corridorbusiness.com
