CNET seeks reporter in San Francisco

CNET News is seeking a full-time technology reporter based in San Francisco.

S/he will be responsible for covering high-profile executives, industry influencers and key companies. We need someone who can handle breaking news, with quick and expert analysis, and develop and deliver enterprise stories. The ideal candidate is someone who is not afraid of debunking the conventional wisdom, comfortable explaining new technology and the social impacts of that technology to a consumer audience, and able to work well with a team of other smart, enthusiastic reporters and editors on joint projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3 years of related technology journalism experience, covering a competitive beat.

Experience at a top tier news organization a plus.

Ability to write clean copy

Ability to write quickly and work well under pressure

An eagerness to explain technology to a broad audience

Demonstrated ability to exercise solid news judgment

Demonstrated ability to “break” news and cultivate sources

Bachelors (or equivalent) degree in journalism, English or writing OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must successfully pass a background check.
