Chemical Watch seeks business reporter

June 17, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

Chemical Watch is looking for a good solid business journalist to build on its existing, renowned, coverage of US policy and regulation governing the risks of chemicals in products.

Over the last seven years Chemical Watch has become the leading title for businesses across the world to stay in touch with the latest regulatory developments and corporate thinking in order to avoid chemical risks before they become costly product recall issues, learn from peers how to manage risks across organisations and to identify new product opportunities.

We have strong relationships with lobby groups and business associations in the US. Our US Editor is based in Washington DC and we have an office in Bethesda. We provide daily reports on the activities of legislators and government agencies, including the discussions around TSCA reform.. We are also rated for our coverage of state legislation, including extensive reporting on California’s Safer Consumer Products Regulation.

We are now looking for a strong business reporter who gets the impact of our mission: to provide businesses with the information they need to manage the risks of chemicals in products responsibly.

The right candidate will be comfortable with the idea of talking to businesses about managing their product risks and the impacts of regulatory developments, as well as those that seek to engage with businesses including policy and campaign groups. They will demonstrate their experience by having an active contacts book and examples of business stories they are proud of, as well as ideas of stories they would love to pursue.

They will have initiative and be articulate, outgoing and a team player, working alongside colleagues in a virtual global editorial team, willing to make a visible contribution to our conferences and webinars, and able to feed back to us ideas for our reporting strategies.. We are looking for someone who is, or would like to be, based in the  Washington DC area and could work from our Bethesda office.

This is a full time staff position with benefits and the prospect of creating an excellent personal reputation working within a respected professional team of journalists.
