Charleston Regional Biz Journal seeks editorial assistant

December 16, 2014

The Charleston Regional Business Journal is looking for an entry-level editorial assistant to work in our newsroom. The majority of this job involves handling one of the most heavily read parts of our news products: Business briefs and people items. You’ll be doing lots of stuff, including untangling press releases, writing, editing, email production and content management, and we’ll teach you how to get the facts straight.

You’ll also get a shot at photography, videography and reporting if you’re interested. But not all at once.

We’re looking for someone with a college degree with a focus on communications, journalism or English, but comparable experience (strong internships count) are a plus.

You’ll have the chance to get some solid experience, to learn from a solid crew of truth-seeking journalists in the B2B niche and the opportunity to show what you’re capable of. Awards? We got ’em. Stories? Too many to tell. Opportunity? Loads. Awesome city with lots of stuff to do, including a vibrant tech and cultural scene? Yep, and beaches too.

Send a cover letter, resume and three of your best clips if you have them (links are fine) to Andy Owens at scjournalist@gmail.com. We typically get inundated with resumes when we have a job opening, so we are only able to contact those who make the first cut.
