Bloomberg seeks billionaires editor in Hong Kong

Bloomberg News is seeking an business and financial news editor with APAC experience to lead its billionaires team in the region. Successful candidates will direct editorial coverage of Asia’s richest people and maintain the profiles of those people that are published on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The editor will oversee a team of reporters (currently two full time and one stringer) and work with the team’s Asia Valuations Editor to create, maintain and update valuation models that are used to populate the index. The billionaires index is a daily ranking of the world’s richest people that is published on the Bloomberg terminal and Bloomberg.com, and involves a team of 13 reporters, editors and analysts worldwide.

We’ll trust you to:

Be comfortable with and ability to create sound, supportable, accurate net worth valuations through the analysis of financials for public and closely held companies, as well as art, real estate and other assets typically owned by high net worth individuals. Knowledge and experience finding and researching public and closely held financial information across cultures is a must, as is an ability to think critically and solve problems that arise from having to work at times with limited information and access. The ability to work with reporters to direct news coverage and enterprise stories across the region, as well as a willingness to collaborate with news teams throughout Bloomberg is also needed. The position will be based in Hong Kong.

You need to have:

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance and/or Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years experience conducting valuation analysis.
  • Ideal candidate will have expert Excel skills, experience valuating assets, keen attention to detail and be able to handle requests from reporters around the world.
  • Proficient in reading company regulatory filings.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and logically tackle problems.
  • Commitment to enhancing and developing Bloomberg products.
  • Effective research, analysis and communication skills.
  • Local language skills a plus.
