Bloomberg Brief seeks municipals reporter in New York

Bloomberg Brief publishes 25+ newsletters that provide unique data, original content and commentary on topics including Economics, Hedge Funds and the Municipal Market.

Municipal Market:

We publish a daily municipal market newsletter aimed at institutional buyers, bankers, financial advisers, lawyers, regulators and issuers. The brief includes news and analysis of the muni market and data on yields, volume and sales in both the primary and secondary market. We also publish one-off issues around special events, such as the Puerto Rico debt crisis.

The position:

We have an opening for a reporter to cover the municipal markets, which will include writing exclusive stories, building creative data visualizations, and collaborating to get news out to other platforms of Bloomberg, including radio and TV. We are looking for an energetic, creative reporter with a shown ability to build sources in financial markets and break news, as well as interview top fund managers and investors and produce Q&As. You should also have either experience building data visualizations or deep interest in doing so. Demonstrated ability to do radio/podcast/TV interviews is a plus. Source meetings and attendance at industry conferences are vital. The job may include travel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience working at major newspapers, wire services, and/or financial newsletters
  • Experience writing about municipal bonds/public finance on deadline is advantageous
