Bloomberg News seeks economics reporter in Mumbai

Bloomberg News seeks experienced reporters in India to join its South Asia economy and government team.

The successful candidate will cover breaking news from India’s central bank and be able to immediately transform this into real-time headlines and stories for trading clients. The reporter will work within a high-pressure team environment, in which the delay of a second or less can spell the difference between a win and a loss.

They will be expected to propose and write breaking and enterprise stories that illustrate India’s economic and political situation to a global audience and their relevance to corporate developments and markets. Responsibilities include attending press briefings and evening events, breaking news on market-moving policies, cultivating sources within the financial industry and writing features that bring Asia’s third-biggest economy to life.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
– Proven ability to write is essential
– Experience reporting and writing features
– Experience covering India’s central bank
– At least two years of post-graduate journalism experience for reporter’s role
– Experience working in a real-time news environment is desirable
– Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business
– Attention to detail
– Fluency in English
