Bloomberg News seeks an Equity Capital Markets reporter in its Hong Kong office to join the Deals team.
Coverage areas will include breaking news on Hong Kong initial public offerings and secondary share sales, as well as U.S. listings of mainland Chinese companies. Knowledge of financial markets, business and the economy is essential. This individual should have a minimum of three years of business journalism experience.
We are looking for a driven, well-rounded reporter who can quickly build a network of contacts with bankers, equity capital markets desks, legal advisors and industry sources. The role involves breaking news on IPOs from the decision to file through the hiring of underwriters, selection of cornerstone investors and pricing of the offering.
The successful applicant will be able to consistently produce scoops under real-time deadline pressure and write stories that are clear and comprehensive. The reporter will also be expected to produce analytical enterprise pieces on a regular basis.
The Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
– Minimum of three years of business journalism experience
– Proven ability to develop a network of sources and consistently produce influential scoops on your existing beat
– Fluency in English, as well as proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, are required
– Experience working in a real-time news environment is desirable
– Strong working knowledge of Excel or experience with data-driven journalism are a plus
