Arkansas paper seeks business reporter

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks an experienced reporter to cover business news and develop enterprise stories about the business community.

Our choice will be allergic to jargon, interested in alternative story forms and enthusiastic about producing content for the Web and social media, including video.

Applicants should have at least two years of daily reporting experience, possess advanced math skills, be able to find and understand federal financial documents, have strong research and organizational skills and a fundamental understanding of economics. Thorough knowledge of basic tenets of journalism and AP style are required.

This position will focus on health care, development and the overall economy of a region recently named by U.S. News & World report as the third best MSA in the nation.

The business desk covers the growing and dynamic Northwest Arkansas economy, home to Wal-Mart, Springdale-based Tyson Foods and Lowell-based J.B. Hunt Transport Services.

The position is based in our Springdale office. Work schedule is usually days Monday-Friday, but some nights and weekends are required.

Our expectations are high. The Arkansas Press Association named us the best for business coverage in the state last year.
