This reporter will be part of our news team with a focus on Amarillo’s business economy and job market. But to be clear: We are not looking for someone content to cover meetings and write about budgets and job statistics.

We are looking for more. Do you like politics? Good. There’s plenty of it. Interested in the environment? Great! Do you know how to turn earnings reports and trade terms into engaging, people-focused content? Then this is the job for you!

Qualifications And Skills (preferred)

Bachelor degree, preferred

A minimum of 2 years of experience at a daily news operation preferred. Internship experience will be considered

Possess clear, concise written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of AP Style

Experience in social media, video and analytics are preferred

Ready to cover complex topics on deadline, as well as routinely work on enterprise stories, and communicate plans clearly with colleagues and supervisors

Able to quickly file breaking news online and then add context to stories during the day

Able to work flexible hours, if needed, including nights, weekends and holidays

Have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
