ACBJ seeks reporter for national news desk

ACBJ 2016The Reporter, National News Desk generates a never-ending stream of stories and ideas, spots trends, and finds unique takes on national events that impact the business world. This position drives digital traffic, builds audience with business-oriented and insightful coverage, produces engaging content from topics and storylines that live in the national spotlight, and introduces new subjects and topics through original stories not yet in that spotlight.

Duties

– Pitch, write and produce timely, highly engaging stories, both original in content and based off developing national events/topics for use on national home page and in local markets on a daily basis. – Generate and produce visual storytelling content – slideshows, videos, infographics – for use across digital platforms. – Be fluent on social media in promoting content, being a thought leader and interacting with readers. – Contribute and create content for national projects. – Pitch, write and produce enterprise stories on a regular basis. – Take on other duties assigned by Editor, National News Desk as needed.

Skills

Ability to work in a general office environment.  Extensive computer use required. Some travel required. Ability to handle flexible work schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Experience

The ideal candidate has: – Background in reporting, digital media and business journalism. – Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure. – Strong writing, analytical and investigative interviewing skills. – Proven ability to utilize a broad set of tools to tell stories and engage the audience. – Excellent communication, cross-group collaboration and planning skills with a strict attention to details and deadlines.
