WSJ.com starts new environmental biz blog

The Wall Street Journal Online launched Wednesday a new blog called Environmental Capital that looks at how businesses and investors are navigating a new energy landscape shaped by growing environmental concern. The Environmental Capital blog is available here.

Keith Johnson, a reporter for the Journal, is the blog’s lead writer, and Jeffrey Ball, environmental news editor for the Journal, is the blog’s editor and a contributor.

Environmental Capital tracks and analyzes breaking news about the business of the environment; provides daily insight into how industry, government and investors are adapting to issues such as climate change; and explores the debate over how those actions are affecting consumers and the planet. The blog includes regular podcasts from Johnson and Ball, recapping events and giving insight into what’s next.

The blog also will draw on expertise from other Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires reporters around the world, including experts in oil and gas, electricity, renewable energy, carbon markets, biofuels, energy policy and more. Guest bloggers and columnists also will contribute to the blog.

The blog’s launch coincides with the Wall Street Journal’s first annual conference on the business of the environment, ECO:nomics: Creating Environmental Capital. The conference takes place March 12 to March 14 in Santa Barbara, Calif. Environmental Capital will be on-site blogging from the event.
