WSJ names new political editor

February 5, 2010

Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief John Bussey sent out the following announcement Friday afternoon:

“I’m pleased to announce that Aaron Zitner will be joining the Washington bureau as National Politics Editor. Aaron is currently the deputy bureau chief of the merged Tribune Co. Washington bureau (LA Times, Chicago Tribune, and other Tribune publications.) He’ll join us Feb. 22 to run our politics coverage and help expand that coverage on WSJ.com.

“Aaron was politics editor of the LA Times based in Washington from 2006 to 2009 and was co-editor of the paper’s 2008 presidential campaign coverage. He was the LAT’s White House and economics editor from 2004-2006 and reported on policy issues surrounding biotechnology and bioethics from 2000 to 2003, also out of the Washington bureau.

“Before joining the LA Times, Aaron was a reporter for the Boston Globe, where he covered business and other topics, and a reporter for the Concord Monitor in Concord, N.H.  He is a 1984 graduate of Oberlin College.

“Please join me in wishing Aaron success in his new post.”
