Alice HaggeThe Wall Street Journal real time editor Stephen Wisnefski sent out the following promotion announcement:

I’m pleased to announce that Alice Hagge has been promoted to the role of lead night editor on the Real-Time Desk in New York. Alice will be filling a position currently occupied by Mark Long, who will soon join the Business and Tech Desk as deputy business editor.

In the new role, Alice will oversee the entire real-time operation in the evening, including the work of editors who are publishing content and those who are packaging and presenting it on digital platforms. Alice, working alongside WSJ night editor Wade Lambert and coordinating closely with subject and bureau chiefs, will help drive coverage of news, ensuring that WSJ.com and Dow Jones Newswires are served with timely, compelling content in the evening. Alice will also coordinate with editors who are finalizing articles for print and ensure a smooth handoff with our real-time editing team in Asia.

Alice is ideally suited for the new position. Since she joined the Real-Time Desk 18 months ago, she has served as the main newsroom editor on Saturday evenings and has distinguished herself as a go-to editor on all types of breaking news story and an effective communicator who maintains calm under pressure. Prior to joining the desk, she worked as a senior editor for personal finance at MarketWatch. That followed stints at SmartMoney, where she served as assistant managing editor, and Conde Nast Portfolio, where she was copy chief. She also worked on the copy desks of Money magazine and Time magazine in New York and Business 2.0 magazine in San Francisco. Alice is a graduate of the University of Georgia.

Please joining me in wishing Alice all the best as she begins this important new assignment.
