The Wall Street Journal, which had won four consecutive New York Media Softball League championships, have been dethroned.

The Journal was shut out 6-0 in the semifinals on Sunday by High Times, which had lost to the Journal in the 2012 championship game.

The championship could remain within the business journalism ranks, however. In the other semifinal, Institutional Investor defeated Forbes by a 14-7 score.

And right now, Institutional Investor is leading High Times by an 11-3 score after four innings in the championship game.

The Journal had ended league play with a 10-2 record, good enough for the second seed in the playoffs. Institutional Investor was the No. 3 seed, and Forbes was the No. 4 seed.

The Journal had split games with High Times during the regular season, winning 11-9 and losing 6-5.

UPDATE: Institutional Investor won the championship game by a 12-6 score. The Journal beat Forbes in the third-place game by a 9-5 score.

Tom Lamont of Institutional Investor says in an email: “We’re still drinking champagne.”
