The Wall Street Journal‘s ongoing web redesign took another small step forward with the debut of a new article page that will be rolled out site-wide over the coming weeks, reports Joe Pompeo of Capital New York.

Pompeo writes, “Beginning with the Journal Reports franchise, the new article-page template is a ‘sharper, cleaner’ design, according to a memo from digital editor Tracy Corrigan.

“‘The page is fully responsive – it works, and looks good, on smartphones and desktops and everything in between – and it gives our writers and editors a versatile tool for digital story-telling,’ Corrigan wrote. ‘But the new version of the article page is not the end of the story: we will continue to add and refine features to suit different types of narrative.’

“At the end of last year, Journal editor-in-chief Gerry Baker had said a ‘complete redesign’ of wsj.com would take place in spring 2014.”
