TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires announced internally Tuesday that they have combined their news operations in Detroit.

Here is the memo from Journal deputy managing editor Matt Murray and Gabriella Stern, the senior editor for global news coverage and senior Newswires representative on the New York news Hub:

“We’re pleased to announce the formation of the latest integrated Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones Newswires bureau in Detroit.

“The Newswires and Journal bureaus in the Motor City have have long worked closely on informal terms, especially during the last hectic year. Now the two staffs will formally combine to make one bureau that will serve the needs of the Newswires, the Online Journal and the print editions, focusing on coverage of the auto industry, suppliers, the state of Michigan and city of Detroit.

“The joint bureau will be overseen by Neal Boudette, and includes Jeff Bennett, Matt Dolan, Alex Kellogg, Kate Linebaugh, Sharon Terlep and Kelly Timon. Neal will report to the two of us. Detroit becomes the latest bureau to integrate operations to help us better coordinate our coverage and better use our resources, alongside Beijing, Tokyo, Brussels, Moscow and New York Real Estate. Please join us in congratulating the remodeled Motown team.”
