Reuters news agency and the American University of Beirut have announced the curriculum of the Business Information Academy, according to a posting on the International Journalists’ Network. The program, announced last year, aims to improve the quality of business journalism in the Middle East.

As part of the program, the academy will conduct a two-day workshop on business journalism in May, and a conference on business information in December, Lebanon’s Daily Star reported on April 2.

According to George Najjar, dean of AUB’s Olayan School of Business, the facility aims to raise the standard of available business information in the regional media by refining the skills of journalists and providing a networking forum for media and businessmen.

The academy will also host several workshops for approximately 20 professionals each year.  In addition, the academy will unveil specialized diploma programs next March, followed by a degree program in April 2008.
