A business journalism student at Baruch College in New York writes on his blog about his first experience with the Bloomberg terminal.

Bloomberg terminalHe wrote, “We had to be at Bloomberg News at 8:45 AM (I.E. I had to get up at 6 AM) for my Business Journalism class, that was the part that sucked.

“The part that was awesome? We learned to use the Bloomberg Terminal. What can you do on this thing? Other than check the latest news up-to-date second by second from all over the world, do extensive research on companies, get people’s profiles (you can even send direct messages to top CEOs who use a bloomberg terminal) and what what? Search for jobs in a database that posts jobs NO WHERE else, from top employers from across the world! So of course I abused that function and found that you can search for internships too! In ANY country (of course I scoured through various Japan internships :3) .

“I’ve gotta research Japan for a class presentation for Macroeconomics this semester and this baby will make it a cinch! Normally, it costs $1800 a month to have a Bloomberg Terminal, but my college is one of only 8 schools in the world that are given one to use free-of-charge!”
