Washington Post national editor Cameron Barr, national economy and business editor Greg Schneider and senior politics editor Steven Ginsberg sent out the following announcement:

We are delighted to announce that Greg Jaffe is moving to the White House beat, bringing his knowledge of national security and the military to our coverage of the Commander-in-Chief. Financial’s Steve Mufson will also join the team so we can leverage his expertise in economics and foreign policy, particularly China.

Greg and Steve will work with the already formidable trio of Juliet Eilperin, David Nakamura and Katie Zezima as we prepare for a new era of divided government, the legacy-burnishing segment of the Obama presidency and a quickening 2016 race.

An accomplished Pentagon reporter, Greg has spent the past two years on David Finkel’s team, where he has been a major contributor to the After the Wars and Wealth projects. He has reported deeply and written with great sensitivity on the struggles of returning combat veterans. He’s also pitched in on crises ranging from the leadership change at the VA to the Islamic State’s advances in Iraq.

Steve, our rigorous chronicler of the energy industry who in an earlier incarnation covered economic policy, will take on the role pioneered by Zach Goldfarb. Steve will remain on Financial but caucus with the White House team under the leadership of Washington Editor Terry Samuel.

Greg is starting today; Steve is already part of the mix. Please join us in welcoming them to their new roles.
