Authorities are hoping new K-9 teams might pick up the scent of a Wall Street Journal reporter who has been missing for two weeks, since he stepped out for a short walk in his New Jersey neighborhood, reports Jennifer Maloney of The Journal.

Maloney writes, “Police still have found no trace of David Bird, 55 years old, who was last seen leaving his home on Jan. 11 in the Millington section of Long Hill Township.

“‘It is still a search and rescue—it’s not a search and recovery,’ said Morris County First Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Zelante, a spokesman for the search effort.

“Mr. Zelante said a K-9 team was coming from Sussex County, and the Long Hill Township Police Department was talking with K-9 handlers in Pennsylvania and North Carolina about joining the search.

“The Long Hill police department, which is leading the effort, had three searchers out Friday, Mr. Zelante said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting as needed, a bureau spokeswoman said.”
