The InformationTech news site The Information has a new homepage design.

The tweaks include a left-hand filters menu, subscriber comments on the home page and a drop down projects menu from the top of the page.

“Today’s homepages are dominated by ever larger ads and huge headlines to lure you to click on as many articles as possible,” said editor and founder Jessica Lessin in an email sent out Sunday.  “We’re going in a different direction: stocking our hompeage with more content and tools to help you get the most out of your subscription.”

The filters menu allows readers to find favorite types of stories.

Adding comments to the home page is designed so “all of our subscribers see as much of this content as possible and that those who invest the time to comment are rewarded with greater visibility,” said Lessin.

The drop down projects menu makes projects such as organization charts, monthly survey data and private tech database easier to find.
