Lance Williams, the business editor of The Tennessean in Nashville, writes Sunday about how the business desk is expanding its coverage.

Williams writes, “Making sense of that business can be a challenge, but I’m excited about a new reporter who’s ready to take it on. Starting Monday, Shelley DuBois will be joining The Tennessean’s business team as the new business of health care reporter.

“As a Nashville native, Shelley is excited to return to Music City to tackle Nashville’s largest industry.

“For the past three years, Shelley has written about management issues for Fortune.com in New York City. Before joining Fortune, she was a producer for National Public Radio’s ‘Science Friday’ and worked for Wired.

“Recently, Shelley was both a panelist and a moderator at the Southland conference in June in Nashville, which drew entrepreneurs and tech thought leaders from across the Southeast.

Getahn Ward“At the same time, business desk veteran Getahn Ward will take on the challenge of elevating our economic development coverage, along with coverage of real estate in Middle Tennessee.

“Getahn is a first-rate news hound. In the last several weeks, Getahn has broken many major stories — including job cuts at the city’s largest employer, a major new tower headed for downtown Nashville and one of the nation’s largest homebuilders planning to build 700 homes in Thompson’s Station.”
