Randy McClain, the business editor of The Tennessean in Nashville, has resigned and has accepted a journalism job in Indiana.

The Nashville Post reports, “McClain’s last day at the paper will be Friday. He will be taking a job with The Republic of Columbus, Ind., according to Bob Faricy, The Tennessean‘s vice president of market development.

“McClain started working for Gannett’s Nashville paper in November 2003.”

In an email to Talking Biz News, McClain writes, “On Oct. 15, I plan to become a reporter at The Republic in Columbus, Ind., part of the Home News Enterprises chain of papers in central Indiana, and return to covering key issues affecting business, government and education. Son, Markus McClain, is pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre at nearby Indiana University and the move is one that brings family and career in perfect alignment for me.”

McClain previously worked eight years for the Baton Rouge Advocate in Louisiana. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Louisiana State.
