Telegraph expands tech team, opens Silicon Valley bureau

British newspaper The Telegraph announced Thursday appointments of its new Technology Intelligence team.

Technology Intelligence is a major new initiative that aims to establish The Telegraph as the leading British publisher of technology journalism,.

The new Silicon Valley bureau is the largest new deployment overseas the Telegraph has made in its modern history.

:We are hugely excited at the launch of this new project, which is already making waves,” said Allister Heath, editor of the Sunday Telegraph and the Telegraph’s head of business, in a statement. “We have assembled a brilliant team of journalists who will be dedicated to our core purpose: establishing Technology Intelligence as the destination for world class technology journalism.”

The Technology Intelligence team will be:

Robin Pagnamenta, currently deputy business editor at The Times, who will join as head of Technology Intelligence. He will be based in the Telegraph’s London office and will be responsible for all technology journalism.

Ellie Zolfagharifard, currently science and technology Editor at Mail Online is appointed as News Editor, Technology Intelligence, based in London.

James Titcomb, currently tech editor at the Telegraph in London, has been promoted to Silicon Valley bureau chief. He will be in charge of a team of five journalists based in new offices in San Francisco.

Harry de Quetteville, formerly comment editor at The Telegraph, has been appointed as special correspondent, Technology Intelligence, specializing in long reads.

James Cook, formerly technology editor at Business Insider UK, has joined as a special correspondent.

Natasha Bernal, currently news editor at The Lawyer, will join as a Technology Intelligence reporter.

Hannah Boland, currently Telegraph business night reporter, has been promoted to Technology Intelligence reporter.

Joseph Archer, of The Sun, has been appointed as Technology Intelligence reporter.

Matthew Field, previously a freelance tech journalist, has been appointed Technology Intelligence reporter.

Tom Hoggins, the Telegraph’s gaming correspondent, will move to the Technology Intelligence team.

Margi Murphy, Telegraph technology reporter, has been promoted to U.S. tech reporter and will move to San Francisco.

Laurence Dodds, Telegraph assistant comment editor, has been promoted to U.S. tech reporter and will move to San Francisco.
