Aaron TaskFortune editor Alan Murray sent out the following announcement to the staff on Friday:

I am delighted to announce that Aaron Task, formerly editor-in-chief of Yahoo Finance, will become Digital Editor of Fortune, effective September 24.

Aaron is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years experience covering business and finance.  Before joining Yahoo in 2008, he spent 10 years at TheStreet.com in a variety of roles, including executive editor.  He also served as the on-camera host for Yahoo’s video efforts.  He is the winner of a number of journalism awards and co-author, with Barry Ritholtz, of the 2008 book Bailout Nation.

Fortune has made great progress since the launch of our web site only 14 months ago.  Aaron has the right skills to take us to the next stage.  He is an accomplished journalist who understands the digital media world inside out, and he wins high praise from his Yahoo colleagues as both an editor and manager.

We are lucky to have him join us.  Please welcome him, and look forward to great things ahead.
