Sandra GuyChicago Sun-Times business reporter Sandra Guy is leaving the paper after 16 years, reports Robert Feder, to become a senior editor at Internet Retailer.

Feder writes, “The move, effective July 27, is a return to in-depth business-to-business reporting for Guy, who previously worked as news editor at Telephony, a telecommunications technology magazine. She joined the Sun-Times in 1999 and spent most of her time there reporting on business and technology. She also reported on higher education.

“‘I have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated my almost 16 years at the Sun-Times — the best and most vital voice in Chicago journalism,’ Guy said. ‘And I look forward to covering what I’m so passionate about — technology that runs behind-the-scenes in the retail world. It’s exciting to be a part of a wonderful, successful team at a fast-growing media company — Internet Retailer and its parent, Vertical Web Media — covering a hot-topic beat.’

“Guy’s resignation comes one month after her work week was cut in half in the latest editorial budget cuts at the Sun-Times. The company negotiated an agreement with the Chicago News Guild to forestall layoffs for six months at the paper in exchange for reducing up to six full-time positions to part-time ones.”
