Stella DawsonStella Dawson, who has held reporting and editing positions at Reuters for nearly 30 years, is leaving the news organization.

In an email to her colleagues, Dawson wrote:

Thank you to a fantastic group of colleagues the world over. You have consistently inspired me to push further and produce ever better journalism.  I have learned much, I cherish the time shared and I will miss the camaraderie. But I want to leave while I am still  having fun and have some energy left over for a new adventure.

Dawson, an American University graduate, joined Reuters in 1987 after four years with the Associated Press. From 1989 to 1996, she was an economics correspondent based in the Washington bureau. She then spent six years in New York as a news editor for Reuters Financial Television.

Dawson then spent nearly five years as a correspondent in Frankfurt, Germany, before moving to London to be a global editor for economics and financial markets stories. She returned to New York in 2010 to be a news editor.

She has been in Washington since September 2011, and for the past three years has overseen coverage of governance and anti-corruption efforts for the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
