Joshua Steiner, head of industry verticals at Bloomberg, a group that includes Bloomberg BNA, Bloomberg Government, Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, is leaving the company at the end of June.
Here is a memo from Michael Bloomberg distributed on Thursday:
Josh Steiner has had a meaningful impact since he joined over five years ago. Working with teams he built, he effectively turned around and integrated our vertical businesses in law, energy, government and other areas with our core business, while also greatly improving each vertical’s products and commercial outcomes. Josh has also been a key partner to me and our senior leaders in a series of strategic initiatives, including our investments in start-ups, emerging technologies and new businesses like the Barclays Index, and our engagement and growth in China and the Middle East.
As many of you know, Josh was previously a successful leader in private equity and alternative investing, and he wants to consider some opportunities that have come to him. After the end of June he will no longer be here full-time but will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor to me and to Bloomberg L.P., particularly on strategic issues including our growth in emerging markets.
I’m grateful for Josh’s contributions and am pleased that we’ll have his ongoing counsel and support.
Mike
