South Florida CEO magazine shuts down

After more than 10 years of operation, South Florida CEO magazine has stopped publishing, and its offices are closed, according to a brief in the Miami Herald.

South Florida CEOThe brief stated, “The monthly business magazine began life as Miami Business, founded by Richard Roffman and J.P. Faber. University of Miami graduate and veteran publisher Ron Mann led a buyout in 2004. Back then, it claimed circulation of 35,000 monthly and $2 million in revenues. The publisher was Richard Vilain.”

The magazine was a full-color monthly, and it served Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, according to its Web site, which is still live. The editor was Rochelle Broder-Singer, and the masthead listed three other full-time editorial members.

The editor before Broder-Singer was William Plasencia. Broder-Singer also worked at LatinCEO, another defunct magazine.

South Florida CEO initiated its ‘Company of the Year’ Award in 2006 when it honored FPL Group, parent of Florida Power & Light and affiliated companies. Last year’s winner was the University of Miami.
