SABEWThe Society of American Business Editors and Writers will hold its annual conference in Washington, DC in May 2016.

The organization of business journalists, which wrapped up its 2015 conference in Chicago on Saturday, last met in Washington in 2013 for its 50th anniversary.

“Most of our members are located in the New York/DC corridor, and so we like to have a conference where most of our members are,” said outgoing SABEW president Marty Wolk, who works at NerdWallet. “We also had a very successful conference there in 2013, so we wanted to go back. Also DC offers great access to news makers, particularly in a presidential elections year, so it will be great for programming.”

In addition, SABEW elected its new board members on Saturday.

Elected to serve three-year terms are Arizona State University business journalism professor Andrew Leckey, The Arizona Republic’s Kim Quillen, The Associated Press’ Brad Foss, freelancer Jonathan Blum, Reuters correspondent Suzanne Barlyn and freelancer Bryan Borzykowski.

Elected to serve a two-year term is American Banker deputy editor Robert Barba.

Elected to serve a one-year term is Bloomberg reporter Sho Chondra.
