SABEW elects new board members

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers elected six new board members and one returning board member at its meeting Monday.

Newly elected board members are Los Angeles Times assistant business editor Sharon Bernstein, McClatchy Newspapers national economics correspondent Kevin Hall, New Orleans Times-Picayune business editor Kim Quillen, Reuters reporter Walden Siew, freelance journalist Maya Payne Smart, and MSNBC.com executive business editor Marty Wolk.

Bloomberg News columnist Dave Wilson was re-elected to a three-year term. He was the only board member whose term expired that ran for re-election.

Also at the meeting, Reuters training editor Greg McCune became SABEW president. He had been vice president. Former Rocky Mountain News business editor Rob Reuteman became vice president, and Dow Jones Newswires deputy managing editor Kevin Noblet became treasurer.

In addition, interim SABEW executive director David Beal received the organization’s President’s Award.
