Reuters hires Begley to cover science and health

Reuters announced Tuesday that award-winning journalist Sharon Begley will join its newsroom as senior U.S. health and science correspondent.

Begley’s experience covering genetics, neuroscience, astronomy, physics, cosmology and climate will complement the growing health and science news team at Reuters.

Prior to joining Reuters, Begley was a contributing writer for The Daily Beast and Newsweek. From 2007 to 2011, she was the science columnist for Newsweek and wrote the “Science Journal” column for The Wall Street Journal from 2002 to 2007.

Begley has received numerous awards for her work from organizations including the National Association of Black Journalists, The Humane Society of the United States, the American Statistical Association, the American Aging Association and the Association for Women in Communications.

She is the coauthor of the 2002 book The Mind and the Brain and the author of the 2007 book Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain.
